Twice or three times a year, I would get super creative and do a dream photoshoot. Usually it is something from ideas that I had found on Pinterest. This time, it was an idea to make a flower dress and have a girl run through a flower field with it, totally something that looked straight out of a fairy tale: soft, long and flow-y.
I put out a model call and Naveena responded. She came to the studio with her Dad so that we can take her measurements. then my friends and I got together to make the flower dress. It was a great idea but the whole dress was too hard to make. So instead, I bought the top from Ross and we bought fabric to make the bottom skirt.
YES! We (Alex, Crystal, Jenn and I) hot-glued on each and one of those cheery blossom petals. For the larger flowers at the bottom, we cheated and use safety pins to attach them onto the fabric.
It was so much work but oh boy! It was so magical!!!! Naveena and I had a grand time running around in a field of blooming zinnias as the sun was setting in Sacramento, CA. We got chewed up by the mosquitoes too but I guess, “No pain, no gain!”
In case you are interested, this zinnia field is usually in bloom from May to Sept in Woodland, CA. Admissions is free. You can pick flowers but they asked that for any flowers that you pick, please pick an extra amount to give to a senior citizen who is not able to make it.
