If you have been following me on Facebook or Instagram, you might have heard that I just got back from vacation in Jacksonville, FL. Henry and I went back to my hometown to visit my parents and to attend my younger sister’s college graduation from UF. She studied architecture. We are so proud of her for graduating with summa cum laude. A perfectionist, she worked night and day on projects and would sometimes called me at random hours just so she can voice her frustration.
My parents and I are so proud of her for graduating with honors. Though she just got back from studying abroad in Italy for 4 months (and has traveled all over Europe), she got accepted into an internship program at UF to go to Kenya for 10 days in July. When she gets back, she’ll be moving to Boston to attend grad school at MIT in the Fall.
When in Jax, one of my favorite people to see is, of course, my best friend Thao. On this trip, I booked several family portrait sessions. One of those is to take place in this beautiful yellow wildflower field in Starke which is about 1 hr 15 mins from where my parents live. Though I got the location and have confirmed that the wildflowers were blooming already, I didn’t want to risk not finding it the day of the shoot so 2 days before meeting with my client, Thao and I took a field trip to this gorgeous flower field after she got off work to play for a bit. Here are the results:
This flower field in Starke is very popular. During the 90 mins that we were there, we must have seen about 15 or 20 other families also there taking photos. It took me several months to track down its location. When I booked my tickets for Florida at the beginning of the year, I searched around to see if there are any flower fields in Jacksonville as there are in Sacramento. There doesn’t seem to be any except for this one. I was so excited that I had to ask around and stalked some blogs to get its location. Hard work paid off, huh?
The flowers only bloom for several week in May. Next year if I am back in Florida in May, I plan on offering some sessions here again. =)
We couldn’t resist the urge to lie in the field of beautiful yellow wildflowers. There were too beautiful!
