Some clients, they are forever stuck in your mind even long after the session is over. This was Mel and Ray for me.

Last Spring, Ray contacted me to photograph their wedding ceremony. He had been following me on Instagram for quite some times and really wanted me to capture their intimate ceremony. Unfortunately, I was going to be out of town that weekend. So instead, he asked to schedule a surprise wedding session with his new wife so that they can have some really pretty photos to mark the beginning of their marriage.
The thing about Ray and Mel is that they have been together for 8 years. They met each other while Ray was still living in the Philippines. Then he migrated to the United States while Mel stayed behind. For 4 years, they were doing long distance. And miraculously, they made it work.

We planned the shoot to be on their 1-month anniversary. The plan was that Ray will have that day off anyway so he was going to take Mel to Downtown Sacramento to have breakfast and hang out. Little did she know that Ray had stuffed their wedding attires in the trunk and that I was waiting for them in Downtown Sacramento Capital Park.
Seriously, when I waved from across the rose garden and said hi to Mel, she didn’t even know that they were having their photos taken that morning. She was so nervous because she wasn’t prepared. But common, can you even tell? Their outfits were so ON POINT! And Mel’s smile, that’s what I fell in love with that morning. She was so happy and so giddy throughout the whole shoot.
She was so natural and so photogenic!!!!
She couldn’t believe that we pulled something like this off.

After the first set, they changed into their wedding attires and we meandered through Downtown Capital Park for more fun moments.
They were sooooo easy to work with. Seriously, for every idea that I had, they would take it and make it even better. They were so natural and so comfortable with each other.

We did cheesy shots and recreated the proposal.
I laid in the grass and made them kiss each other.
We pretended like we were models and tried out these editorial poses.
We just had fun!!!! I made him kiss her.
I made them kiss each other.
We pretended to play hide and go seek.
(By the Men’s Restroom, apparently. LMAO)

I can’t stand how cute they looked together!!!!! I mean, really!
Who looked so good together like this?
Oh Mel! You are definitely something special. From the first time I met you, I already know that I will like you forever! Not only are you pretty on the outside, you alway say the kindest words. As I follow you and Ray, I am so happy to see you guys going on all sorts of adventures together. Continue to make time for each other, always say kind words, and have lots of things to laugh about in each other’s company.

In good time or bad, I hope these photos will always serve as a reminder of how special your love is to one another. Here’s to wishing you and Ray a lifetime of happiness together!
Love always,
