1 year, 2 months and 13 days: That’s how long I have known Kaylie for.
4/16/2015- Who knew that a simple message like “Hello, I came across your IG through a friend’s acct and I thought your images are awesome! :)” would lead to the beginning of a friendship.
I was the first person that she had known strictly through online interaction and then actually met up in real life. When I quit my full time job last October and got so busy during the holiday season, she became my first (and best ever) assistant. Even if it was only for a month to help me get through all of the craziness.
We talked about all sorts of things while working together. One of which was David, her bf then and fiance now. What makes David so right for her is that they are so alike in their likes and interest. They both love good food and they both love to travel. David is outgoing and adventurous so being together, Kaylie gets to experience things and go to places that she otherwise would not: going on little weekend getaways to Monterey, trying out new restaurants in Orange Country, flying to San Diego for her birthday weekend, and drooling over a new restaurant in San Jose.
When the time came, I was thrilled to be able to take their engagement photos. They wanted to go to the beach in Monterey for their engagement session. After much research, we chose Point Lobos State Park in Carmel, CA. My husband and I went hiking there several years back and loved it so much that we went back to take our wedding photos there a year later. We loved the giant rocks, the crystal blue water, the clean air and the sounds of the waves crashing.
We drove 3 hours from Sacramento to get to Point Lobos. To our luck, the weather could not have been any nicer that day. We spent a good 1.5 hour taking pre-wedding photos in their wedding attire at this epic location (which I will share later after their wedding). When we got to the engagement photos, we got THE BEST light possible.
My absolute favorite photo of Kaylie.
On the way to Point Lobos, we saw an open beach area so we went there for the second location. Point Lobos has all the rocks and hiking trails, but you don’t get to hold hands and walk on the beach like you do here.
Laughing her head off because the crashing waves caught them by surprise.
To Kaylie and David, congratulations on your engagement. Thank you for coming into my life and allowing me the opportunity to share such an epic adventure with you. I cannot wait to see you on your wedding day!!!
Love,
Tra
